Djibouti
Djibouti introduced SORMAS with the aim of strengthening its digital disease surveillance and outbreak response infrastructure as part of the IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development) regional initiative.
Deployment began with Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions in 2023, organized by the Ministry of Health of Djibouti and IGAD, with the support SORMAS Foundation and the GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit). Training sessions targeted core users from the Health Information Department, the National Public Health Institute, and staff from across all provinces, equipping them with the skills needed to use and cascade SORMAS training to broader user groups. Workshops also focused on drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Djibouti’s adaptation of SORMAS, covering efficient information flow, quality control, problem solving, and practical exercises in case investigation, contact tracing, sample management, and data analysis.
