Switzerland
At the beginning of the the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, several Swiss cantons including Bern, Solothurn, Glarus, Luzern, Zürich, Valais and the Principality of Liechtenstein adopted SORMAS to strengthen their pandemic response capabilities. Recognizing the need for improved coordination and data flow across regional public health structures, these cantons integrated SORMAS into their pandemic control measures through a COVID-19 specialized module that structured case reporting, contact tracing, and outbreak management in real time.
The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) with the support of the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) conducted training sessions for users and provided support for technical configuration and localization of the system, including translations to French and Italian translations of the platform.
