Tunisia
In Tunisia, SORMAS was introduced in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic by the Observatory for New and Emerging Diseases (Observatoire National des Maladies Nouvelles et Émergentes, ONMNE), national reference organization for epidemiological disease surveillance, including event-based surveillance.
After the system’s adaptation to the country’s local context, SORMAS deployment started in one governorate, strengthening the electronic case data capture and structured outbreak reporting to complement existing national systems.
In 2025, Tunisia was awarded with funding from the Pandemic Fund that included, among other activities, the rollout of SORMAS in the country.
