SORMAS training of trainers held in The Gambia

As part of the preparatory activities for the implementation of SORMAS in The Gambia, a Design Thinking Workshop was held in October 2025, bringing together key stakeholders. Building on the outcomes of this workshop, SORMAS was configured and adapted to meet country-specific requirements before deployment.

To support the nationwide rollout, a two-phase training program was designed for end users across all levels of the surveillance system:

  • Phase I: Training of Trainers (ToT) for higher reporting and supervisory levels

  • Phase II: Planned step-down trainings for users at lower levels

The Training of Trainers was successfully conducted on January 19 to 21, 2026, with a strong focus on practical outbreak scenarios, report and dashboard generation and addressing common operational challenges.

Looking forward to the successful next steps!
