The road to DAK implementation through the lens of a digital health software developer (SORMAS)

On 11 February, Jan Böhme, Managing Director at the SORMAS Foundation, was invited to present at the Surveillance Data Standards Community of Practice (CoP) webinar organized by the @World Health Organization on “The road to DAK implementation through the lens of a digital health software developer (SORMAS)”.

As part of the WHO SMART Guidelines framework, Digital Adaptation Kits (DAKs) provide a software-neutral, systematic approach to digitizing clinical and public health content. They promote the use of established standards and guide the design of digital systems aligned with WHO recommendations for clinical documentation, health systems, and data use.

The presentation covered:

·       DAK process implementation Levels 1 to 5

·       Key steps for software developers adapting systems to DAK requirements

·       A practical, hands-on example of this process within SORMAS

Let’s join efforts to advance surveillance standardization and strengthen interoperable, data-driven public health systems.
